New Yorker on Sale Now Features Recommendations of Book Sense Booksellers

The May 12 issue of The New Yorker magazine on sale now features a special insert, "Bound to Please," highlighting "the sage recommendations of America's independent booksellers."

The titles featured were nominated for the March/April and May/June Book Sense 76s. Booksellers recommending these "great gift ideas" are Tom Campbell of the Regulator Bookshop in Durham, North Carolina; Lawrence Ferlinghetti of City Lights in San Francisco; Lynn Farquhar of the Tattered Cover Book Store in Denver; Will Peters of Annie Bloom's Books in Portland, Oregon; Rita Moran of Apple Valley Books in Winthrop, Maine; Hannah Cox of Diesel, A Bookstore in Oakland, California; Susan Wasson of Bookworks in Albuquerque; Ginny Coulter of Humpus Bumpus Books in Cumming, Georgia; Joe Pilla of Paperbacks Plus in the Bronx, New York; Jean Matthews of Chapter One Book Store in Hamilton, Montana; Megan Scott O'Bryan of Scott's Bookstore in Mt. Vernon, Washington; and Stan Hynds of Northshire Bookstore in Manchester Center, Vermont.

The next special Book Sense feature in The New Yorker will appear in the July 14 issue, on sale July 7, and will highlight summer paperback reading. To complement the story, the magazine is once again seeking photographs of bookstores with Book Sense.
