On Monday, Apple approved the American Booksellers Association’s IndieBound Reader™ for iOS, and it is now available for download in the App Store [1].
[1]Unlike the Android version of IndieBound Reader, the iOS version (for iPad/iPhone/iPod Touch) does not include an embedded store. Instead, booksellers can direct customers to visit their IndieCommerce website in the Safari browser on an iPhone/iPad to purchase Google eBooks™ and then use the “Download” link to download their purchases into the IndieBound Reader.
The IndieBound Reader for Android, which does include an embedded store, launched on December 1 [2] and is available for download from the Android Market [3] or from IndieBound.org [4].
ABA has created an array of materials to help stores promote the new apps. Printable and online images are available to IndieCommerce stores at IndieCommerce.com [5].
Both mobile apps were developed for ABA by Bluefire Productions [6], an independent software company in Seattle, Washington.
