ABFFE Returns to Lower Manhattan Offices

Six weeks after Hurricane Sandy shut down much of lower Manhattan, the American Booksellers Foundation for Free Expression [1] has returned to its fourth-floor offices on Fulton Street in the South Street Seaport. Since the storm hit, ABFFE President Chris Finan and the organization’s support staff have been working from home.

Though ABFFE’s offices suffered only minor damage, much of the surrounding area was devastated and essential services are just now being restored.

“We consider ourselves lucky to be back,” Finan told BTW. “Retail in the South Street Seaport was hit very hard, and many large office buildings are still empty.  It will not be a merry Christmas in lower Manhattan.”
