Spring Workshop Offers Essentials for New and Prospective Owners

The Bookstore Training Group of Paz & Associates will present the workshop retreat “Owning a Bookstore: The Business Essentials [1]” from Monday through Friday, May 6 through 10, in Amelia Island, Florida (near Jacksonville). Whether you’re testing the waters or already a new owner, the intensive training program will provide critical retail fundamentals and indie bookstore best practices that are essential to establishing a competitive business.

The program, which is co-sponsored by the American Booksellers Association, will cover such key topics as learning financial dynamics to measure profitability and productivity, creating a special sense of place, marketing for customer loyalty, using a computerized management system to effectively buy merchandise and manage your inventory, staffing for exceptional customer service, and more.

The workshop will be facilitated by Donna Paz Kaufman and Mark Kaufman and will feature guest booksellers and trainers who will share their frontline expertise.
