Nominations Needed for Key Holiday Season Lists

There will be three opportunities for booksellers to help create Indie Next Lists in October:

• Friday, October 3, is the deadline for nominations for the December Indie Next List;
• Friday, October 10, is the deadline for nominations for the Winter Children's Indie Next List; and
• Friday, October 31, is the deadline for nominations for the January 2009 Indie Next List.

"As nomination deadlines begin to cross over into the holiday season, we totally understand how many more demands there are on booksellers' time," said Indie Next List Editor-in-Chief Dan Cullen, "but if booksellers could take just a few minutes to nominate a title that they are enthusiastically looking forward to handselling to their customers in December -- including kids' books -- the collective effect of their individual effort would be huge. The Indie Next List is the result of a wide chorus of voices, and we are immensely grateful to the booksellers who share their next great reads."

In addition, there is now additional incentive to nominate, as ABA announces a "Tell-a-Bookseller-Friend" Indie Next List Nomination Challenge [1], in which booksellers can win an ABA gift card worth $150.
