ABA Town Hall & Annual Membership Meetings to Be Held on May 24
The American Booksellers Association will hold its 2011 ABA Membership Meeting from 4:00 p.m. - 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday, May 24, in Room 1E09/10 at the Jacob Javits Convention Center in New York City, in conjunction with BookExpo America. All members are encouraged to attend the meeting, where the ABA Board and senior staff will report on the past year’s activities as well as upcoming initiatives.
The Annual Meeting will be preceded by the Town Hall meeting, from 3:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m., also in Room 1E09/10. The Town Hall provides booksellers with the opportunity to express opinions and share ideas with the Board and staff in a less formal setting than the Membership Meeting.
To provide an opportunity for as many members as possible to speak during the Town Hall Meeting, a sign-up sheet will be prominently displayed in the ABA Booksellers Lounge (Room 1E07/08), starting on Monday morning, May 23. Booksellers will be called upon to speak at the Town Hall in the order in which they sign up.
Last week, all Regular Bookstore members should have received an e-mail from ABA with a link to an electronic ballot for the 2011 election of ABA officers and directors. One person per ABA Member ID number may vote, and a BookWeb log-in and the store ABA Member ID number are required. The voting deadline is midnight on April 25.
ABA members with questions regarding the election of officers and directors should contact ABA’s current president, Michael Tucker of California’s Books Inc.; questions about the balloting should be directed to ABA COO Len Vlahos.
