ABA/Book Sense Booth at BEA Features Key Information for Independents -- And Some of Their Favorite Authors
Booksellers on the trade floor at this years BookExpo America, which will be open from May 3 to 5, at the Jacob K. Javits Convention Center in New York City, will find a wide range of key information at the ABA/Book Sense Booth (#718) -- and a chance to meet the authors of some of their favorite Book Sense picks.
This year, for the first time, there will be 30-minute signings in the ABA/Book Sense Booth, beginning on Friday and continuing through Sunday. Book Sense 76 authors already confirmed include:
- Ross King, author of Brunelleschi's Dome: How a Renaissance Genius Reinvented Architecture (Walker), which won the Book Sense Book of the Year Award for Adult Nonfiction in 2001
- Michael Malone, author of Handling Sin (Sourcebooks), nominated for the Book Sense Book of the Year Award for Rediscovery this year
- Eoin Colfer, author of Artemis Fowl (Hyperion Books for Children)
- David Catrow, illustrator of Stand Tall, Molly Lou Melon (Putnam), nominated for the Book Sense Book of the Year Award for Childrens Illustrated
- Joe Queenan, author of Balsamic Dreams: A Short But Self-Important History of the Baby Boomer Generation (Picador USA).
More authors are being confirmed daily, and BTW will offer a full schedule of signings later in April.
In addition to the opportunities to meet authors at the book signings, booksellers will also be able to get the latest information on money-saving ABA programs and the newest Book Sense materials.There will be demonstrations of the new online version of the Book Buyers Handbook, BookSense.com, and BookWeb.org, the ABA member Web site. The new and improved reporting process for the Book Sense Bestseller List will be reviewed, and there will be full information available on the Local Marketing Intelligence (LMI) Program.
Representatives will also be on hand from all the ABA affinity programs, including credit card processing; LIBRIS business insurance; small package freight program -- FedEx Ground; the large shipment freight program -- Consolidated Freightways; and more. As always, ABA membership information will be readily available, as will staff to answer any ABA- or Book Sense-related question.
