ABACUS-10 Moves to Next Phase
With the August 15 deadline for bookstore participation in the ABACUS-10 Survey now past, this week the American Booksellers Association announced that the process of analyzing and compiling the data into store reports was moving forward.
“We are grateful to all of the booksellers who responded to this year’s survey,” said ABA CEO Oren Teicher. “Their participation has ensured that this one-of-a-kind tool, which provides individual store reports as well as crucial benchmarks for the independent bookselling community as a whole, will continue to be available.”
ABA members that submitted data to the survey will receive their customized reports in late fall. ABACUS-10 results will provide key new criteria for comparisons and analysis, and, at the recommendation of ABA’s ABACUS Task Force, will be presented in a more visual manner, through the expanded use of charts and graphs.
This is the second year that ABACUS is being compiled by the National Association of College Stores (NACS) OnCampus Research, and Teicher expressed his appreciation to Martha Love of NACS for her continuing work on the study.
The owners and regular employees of bookstores participating in ABACUS-10 are eligible to apply for the Avin Mark Domnitz Scholarship to the 2011 Winter Institute. The scholarship winner will be announced in September.
