ABFFE T-Shirts and Posters Celebrate Tattered Cover Victory

The Tattered Cover Book Store’s victory in the Colorado Supreme Court was not only a momentous decision for store owner Joyce Meskis and her colleagues, but also for booksellers and free expression advocates throughout the U.S. Booksellers showed Meskis their appreciation with a standing ovation at The Celebration of Bookselling at BookExpo America. Now, booksellers can show support for their customers’ right to privacy by ordering an ABFFE T-Shirt or poster.

The American Booksellers Foundation for Free Expression (ABFFE) is selling a poster and a T-shirt based on an editorial cartoon that appeared in the Denver Post following the announcement of the Supreme Court’s decision in April. The cartoon, by Mike Keefe, shows a suspect being read his "Meskis Rights" by a police officer: "You have the right to read…You have the right to buy books privately…"

The T-Shirts are $15 and available in medium; large; extra large; and extra, extra large. Posters are $7. The T-shirt and poster can be ordered together for $20. To order the items, go to the ABFFE Web site, www.abffe.com, and click on "ABFFE Store." Both items are listed in the Tattered Cover section of the store.
