Le Book Nook Opens in Las Vegas
Las Vegas, Nevada, is home to a new indie bookseller specializing in motivational and inspirational books for both young and old. Le Book Nook celebrated its grand opening on Saturday, March 25, with appearances by several local authors.
Owner Tina Boag told the Las Vegas Review-Journal that she wants to share her love of motivational and inspirational biographies and autobiographies with others and believes she has found a niche with Le Book Nook, which is located in a small space on Las Vegas’ Durango Drive.
Westchester Bookstore Expands Its Niche
Amada Abad, an immigrant from Ecuador, who has owned Galapagos Books in Hastings, New York, for the past 15 years, has grown the business from its original niche of foreign language books in more than 80 languages to include children’s books, young adult titles, bestsellers, and mysteries.
The Dobbs Ferry Daily profiled Abad, who moved to the U.S. when she was younger to learn English and was welcomed by Susan Lindsey and her family, the original owners of Galapagos Books.
Abad told the Daily that owning the store has provided her with the opportunity to travel around the world in search of new and different books. But, she said, it’s the local customers who make running the business worthwhile. These include people who are interested in learning a foreign language and others who are looking for books in their native tongue.
The Strand Decorated With Street Art
Graffiti and street artist Toofly turned an outside wall of the Strand Bookstore in New York City yesterday into a work of art yesterday. The project was part of a promotion for the release of XCIA’s Street Art Project: The First Four Decades (Siman Media Works), a collection of photographs by Hank O’Neal, a former CIA agent.
GalleyCat featured a snapshot of the work-in-progress.
