Joseph-Beth to Open in Former Borders Location

This week, Joseph-Beth Booksellers announced plans to open a new store in the former Borders space in the Crestview Hills Town Center in Northern Kentucky. The company has leased the 20,000-square-foot space, and the new store will employ 30 people.

“As a civic-minded company with strong local roots, we’re excited to expand our presence in the community,” said Joseph-Beth CEO, Mark Wilson. “Northern Kentucky is a natural fit for us. We’re looking forward to bringing Joseph-Beth’s unique blend of books, gifts, toys, games and author events to the Crestview Hills Town Center.”

Eleventh Step Books Turns 20

Eleventh Step Books in Westmont, New Jersey, will mark its 20^th anniversary next month.

As a way to thank its loyal customers, the store will begin an anniversary celebration on Thursday, October 13, its original grand opening date, and continue festivities through Saturday, October 15. The store will be giving away gifts and prizes and is offering all shoppers a 20 percent discount on October 13.

Owners Ray and Mae Skinner opened Eleventh Step Books in 1991 as a “recovery shop,” but have since expanded into areas beyond addictions.

New Bookstore to Open in Missouri

On October 1, Robin and Dennis Tidwell will be opening All on the Same Page Bookstore in Creve Coeur, Missouri, a mile away from a soon-to-be-closed Borders store. All on the Same Page will carry a mixture of new and used books.

“Borders was too big,” Tidwell told the River Front Times. “They had too much of everything. I was waiting for them to start stocking toothpaste. I’d go in there and think, ‘Good Lord, are you a bookstore or a Wal-Mart?’ I think people are ready to go back to basics and start buying local.”
