“Bookselling Today: ABA Education” begins on Wednesday morning, May 29, at BEA at the Javits Convention Center. The Remainders and Gift pavilions will also open on Wednesday. The main exhibit area will be open from Thursday, May 30, through Saturday, June 1.
ABA member booksellers are eligible to receive complimentary badges for entrance to the BEA trade show. Registration is via the BEA trade show site.
Reservations for Hotel ABA, the Grand Hyatt New York, are open exclusively to ABA member booksellers. The special nightly rate for single and double rooms is $255, plus tax (currently 14.75 percent) and a $3.50 per night occupancy fee. The rate is available on accommodations from Monday, May 27, through Sunday, June 2.
Every store in good standing that books a room (or rooms) at Hotel ABA before the April 1 deadline will be automatically entered into a drawing for one of the following prizes, courtesy of BEA:
- 1 grand prize of four free hotel nights (room and tax)
- 5 second place prizes of three free hotel nights (room and tax)
- 15 third place prizes of two free hotel nights (room and tax)
- 35 fourth place prizes of one free hotel nights (room and tax)
Only one winner per bookstore member is allowed.
In addition, last week BEA announced an alternative option to expensive New York hotel rates for trade show attendees. On his blog, The BEAN, Rosato said that he expected to announce sometime this week that BEA had secured a block of 120 dorm rooms at Barnard College at the rate of $115 per night.
