BookSense.com On the Move...
Here, BookSense.com Director Len Vlahos provides an update on the latest improvements and enhancements to BookSense.com.
Greetings! There's a lot of BookSense.com news in this edition of On the Move, as we've made more improvements to your BookSense.com site:
- For stores participating in the new Book Sense Gift Card program, those gift cards can now be purchased and redeemed on your BookSense.com site. This is a major piece of development that makes your BookSense.com site not only competitive with other online booksellers, but actually puts you a bit ahead of the curve. Very few retailers allow customers to redeem electronic gift cards online.
In addition to purchase and redemption, your customers can also check their gift card balances.
Once we've been informed that you've signed up for the Gift Card program, we'll enable your site to participate online. We'll tell you when you are ready to go, then it's up to you to enable the program on your own admin pages. Just click on the "Gift Card" link on the lower left-hand side of your administrative page when you're ready.
If you haven't signed up for the Book Sense Gift Card program yet, you can do so (and find all the information you need) at: www.bookweb.org/read/6303.
(I strongly encourage you to look into the gift card program, if you haven't done so yet. Electronic gift cards are superior to paper gift certificates in every way, and retailers in other industries who have made the switch have seen sharply increased sales. If you can, you'll be well served to do this for this year's holiday season.)
- The discount by binding type -- found in the "Edit Storewide Pricing" section of your admin page -- will now only apply to items that carry a discount of at least 35 percent.
- The store phone number, fax number, and e-mail address have been added to both the store hours pop-up box and to the information displayed with on-hand quantities for stores uploading their own inventories.
- You will now receive e-mail notification when an order is converted from wholesaler fulfillment to store fulfillment. (This happens when the wholesaler agrees to fill an order, but for some reason can't.) In the past, you would only see these orders as new orders on your admin site.
Enjoy these new features. If you see any problems with this new functionality, or, if you have any questions, just let us know.
Thanks!
Len
