NAIBA & SIBA Partner for Club Read

The New Atlantic Independent Booksellers Association (NAIBA) and the Southern Independent Booksellers Alliance (SIBA) have announced plans for Club Read, a weekend retreat for booklovers, to be held on Saturday and Sunday, October 15 and 16, at the Mariners Land Resort in Huddleston, Virginia. The event aims to bring together a dozen authors and 200 indie bookstore customers for “a memorable weekend and a profitable program for bookstores.”

NAIBA and SIBA members stores must sign up to become agents of Club Read. 

O, The Oprah Magazine Unveils Summer Reading List

The July issue of O, The Oprah Magazine — on newsstands now — features the magazine’s 6th annual Summer Reading List. O’s picks, including novels, histories, and love stories, are also featured on Oprah.com, where visitors are given the option of purchasing books from an IndieBound store, in addition to Amazon or Barnes & Noble.

On Wednesday, June 22, O’s books editor, Sara Nelson, will host a Facebook chat (facebook.com/oprahmagazine) to provide personalized summer reading suggestions and recommendations.

Ingram Opens Lightning Source Australia

This week, Ingram Content Group announced the opening of Lightning Source Australia, its fifth globally networked print-on-demand facility. At launch, more than 1.3 million titles from 400-plus publishers worldwide will be available to Australian consumers through book retailers and library suppliers, including TheNile.com.au, Emporium Books Online, Dennis Jones & Associates, ALS Library Services, James Bennett, and DA Information Services.

Lightning Source North American facilities include its headquarters in La Vergne, Tennessee, and operations in Allentown, Pennsylvania. Lightning Source international locations include a large-scale operation in Milton Keynes, U.K., which serves the European region, and a facility in Maurepas, France, a joint-venture with Hachette Book Group.

Consortium Begins Distributing Five New Clients

On June 1, Consortium Book Sales & Distribution, a member of the Perseus Books Group, began accepting orders for Bilingual Readers, Black Balloon Publishing, Coach House Books, Pushkin Press, and Talonbooks.

Black Balloon Publishing is based in Brooklyn, New York; Coach House Books and Talonbooks are in Canada; Bilingual Readers in Spain; and Pushkin Press in London.
