DIY Resources Available for Weekend Kobo Mini Promotion
To help stores catch last-minute holiday shoppers, Kobo is sponsoring a $49.99 Kobo Mini promotion this weekend. There are no restrictions on when stores can begin publicizing the December 21, 22, 23 sale, and promotional resources, including banners and posters, are now available on the Booksellers DIY Kobo page.
Booksellers were informed of the promotion, which applies to on-hand inventory only, via e-mail last week. Kobo will not honor rain checks or sales other than on December 21, 22, or 23. The Mini is in stock at Ingram; booksellers who need additional inventory should contact their Ingram sales reps for information.
Participating ABA members will be reimbursed the amount of $30 per eligible device sold in the first quarter of 2013. Eligible sales must be reported to ABA no later than January 2, 2013, as follows:
- Stores must provide ABA with an electronically generated report documenting the number of Kobo Mini sales transactions that occur on December 21, 22, and 23, 2012.
- Acceptable reports include any that you are able to produce using your store’s POS system. Stores that are not able to generate such a report may provide a duplicate copy of cash register tape indicating Mini transactions (either summarized or indicating each individual sale with a time/date stamp).
- Reports may be sent electronically to kobo@bookweb.org or be physically mailed to Member Technology Director Neil Strandberg at the new address: American Booksellers Association, 333 Westchester Avenue, Suite S202, White Plains, NY 10604. To be eligible, reports must be electronically received by, or postmarked no later than, January 2, 2013.
Stores that do not have the ability to generate these kinds of reports should contact the ABA team by writing kobo@bookweb.org. Questions about participation in this offer should be directed to ABA Membership & Marketing Officer Meg Zelickson Smith.
As per details of the Kobo program launch, devices purchased before the end of the year are returnable. Any purchases made now are subject to Ingram’s usual December terms of sale. Any questions can be directed to the bookstore’s Ingram sales rep.
