The Fall '09/Winter '10 Indie Next List for Reading Groups

Here's a full preview of the Fall '09/Winter '10 Indie Next List for Reading Groups, which ABA member stores in the IndieBound movement will be receiving in the October Red Box.

"Beginning with an intriguing and well-rounded selection of top 10 titles and continuing through 10 discussion-starting categories, the latest Reading Group list showcases a wealth of outstanding books -- most in paperback -- and the wonderful insight and acumen of the indie booksellers nationwide whose title nominations created the list," said Dan Cullen, ABA's senior director for editorial content. "The enthusiastic participation of so many booksellers underscores the continued popularity of this list with the crucial customer base of repeat book buyers who are members of reading groups, and we are incredibly grateful for all their help."

The Fall '09/Winter '10 list also offers some additional title suggestions for reading groups for young readers.

Indie bookstores use the reading group list in a number of ways -- from handouts at author events and special reading group nights to take-aways that are part of in-store displays. Each year, IndieBound receives the most requests for additional copies of the Reading Group list from booksellers. Those who would like additional copies of the Reading Group List -- or any other list -- should contact ABA's Linda Ford at lindaf@bookweb.org.

Looking ahead, the next two deadlines for submitting Indie Next List nominations are fast approaching:

  • December Indie Next List -- Friday, October 2, and
  • Winter Children's Indie Next List -- Friday, October 9.

Booksellers can submit Indie Next List recommendations via e-mail to indienextlist@bookweb.org or via the electronic nomination form on ABA's trade website, BookWeb.org.
