Forum/Education Program in Ohio Next Week

American Booksellers Association staff will be in Dublin, Ohio, next week to present a Booksellers Forum and Education Program. The event, on Wednesday, March 29, at the Hilton Garden Inn, is being held in conjunction with the Great Lakes Booksellers Association (GLBA) and is free and open to the owners and staff of ABA and GLBA member stores.

The highlights of ABA's program include two new education sessions and the exchange of information and ideas at the Booksellers Forum, where ABA COO Avin Mark Domnitz, BookSense.com Director Len Vlahos, and Meg Smith, associate director of Book Sense marketing and director of membership marketing/media relations for ABA, will provide an update on the association's programs and initiatives. GLBA will also be presenting members with an update on activities, including The Spoken Word radio program, as well as information about the industry-wide switch to the 13-digist ISBN in 2007. Here's a look at the schedule:

  • 9:15 a.m.: How to Be the Story: Developing and Implementing a Public Relations Plan
  • 10:30 a.m.: Know Your Customer: Increase Sales
  • Noon: ABA Booksellers Forum -- includes lunch
  • 2:00 p.m.: GLBA Mini-Sessions: The New 13-Digit ISBN and The Spoken Word: How to Make It Work for You
