Ingram, 30-Plus Publishers Sponsor Winter Institute

The 2012 Winter Institute in New Orleans, which will offer a jam-packed program of 32 education sessions and three evening receptions, is made possible by the overall support of the Ingram Content Group, Wi7’s lead sponsor, and the support of more than 30 large and small publishers.

“Sincere thanks go out to all of our Winter Institute sponsors for their continuing commitment to independent booksellers,” said Mark Nichols, ABA’s development officer. “With their support, booksellers at Wi7 will experience first-rate educational programming and special events featuring more than 50 authors. In addition, dozens of ABA members will be able to attend the Winter Institute on publisher-sponsored scholarships. We hope all of our members will join us in thanking these sponsors.”

Wi7 will be held from Wednesday, January 18, through Friday, January 20, 2012, at the Astor Crowne Plaza in New Orleans’ French Quarter. Event registration is currently booked to capacity; however, ABA member booksellers can add their names to a waiting list here.

Winter Institute scholarship winners will be selected from all ABA bookstore members. Booksellers who drop off a business card at the ABA booth at any of the regional trade shows can earn an extra entry in the scholarship awards process. Scholarships will cover the Wi7 meal fee, up to a four-night stay at the Astor Crowne Plaza, and travel expenses up to $350. Winners will be announced no later than November 15.  Previous scholarship winners are not eligible.

Full Wi7 program details are available at wi7.bookweb.org. Booksellers are encouraged to check back often as information is being updated on an ongoing basis.
