ABA's 2005 Booksellers Forum Tour and Education Program, which launched earlier this month, will be coming to a location near you. During the next four months, ABA senior staff and representatives of the ABA Board and Booksellers Advisory Council will meet with booksellers in every region of the country to provide an update on various ABA programs and initiatives and to gather input that will be used to shape future association efforts.
Fourteen more forums, as well as educational programming, are on the schedule. Details, including exact times and locations, will be published in upcoming editions of Bookselling This Week. Booksellers will also receive e-mail announcements from ABA with up-to-date information regarding the forums in their areas.
Many of these events will include an ABACUS Workshop. Booksellers who bring their fiscal 2004 financial statements to the workshop will receive one-on-one help in completing the 2005 ABACUS study, as well as a coupon for $50 off their next ABA dues renewal. The ABACUS study is helping all independent booksellers by establishing a standard against which each store's financial results can be measured. It is an invaluable tool. (For more about the ABACUS study, click here.)
ABA encourages bookstore owners to bring their staff to these energizing events that provide much valuable information and offer a broader perspective on how their store fits into the larger industry.
Questions about the Booksellers Forum Tour and Education Program should be addressed to ABA's Kristen Gilligan at (800) 637-0037, ext. 1286 or kristen@bookweb.org.
