Music Box Films Offers Promotional Tie-ins for Lore

In conjunction with the opening of the Austrailian-German film Lore, Vintage Books will be re-releasing the Rachel Seiffert book that is basis for the movie, and Music Box Films is offering several promotional opportunities for booksellers. Originally published as The Dark Room, Seiffert’snovel, which was short-listed for The Booker Prize, was inspired by stories she heard from her mother about growing up in a Nazi household. The book’s middle section was adapted into the movie Lore.

At the film’s center is a 14-year-old girl who leads her four younger siblings across the devastated countryside of Germany at the end of World War II after her parents — fervent Nazis — are taken by the victorious Allies. The movie opens in New York and Los Angeles on Friday, February 8. Over the next couple months, the film will expand to cities across the country. The trailer and complete theater listings can be viewed on Music Box Films’ website.

Promotional opportunities for bookstores include free movie tickets for social media/e-newsletter giveaways in cities with participating theaters, and copies of the newly released edition of the book, now titled Lore and featuring movie cover art, for giveaways in conjunction with the announcement of local film engagements.

Additionally, Vintage Books will soon be launching a Book Group Contest, whose first prize is a screening of the film for a book group of 20 – 25 people and a second prize of a free copy of the book. Everyone who enters the Book Group Contest will be invited to participate in a private online discussion with book author Rachel Seiffert. The contest page will be live on February 25.

Bookstores interested in participating in promotional opportunities for Lore should contact Music Box Films.
