North Carolina Bookstores Undamaged by Storms

In the aftermath of the tornadoes that wreaked havoc in the southern and eastern U.S. and killed 45 people, the American Booksellers Association checked in with several North Carolina bookstores. All of those contacted reported they had no damage.

At Quail Ridge Books & Music in Raleigh, Sarah Goddin said that fortunately the store was not affected, although many of their customers had property damage and had lost their electricity for several days. Flyleaf Books in Chapel Hill, The Country Bookshop in Southern Pines, and The Regulator Bookshop were also fine.

Wander Lorentz De Haas of the Regulator said, “We were very, very lucky considering what happened around us.”

Via the Southern Independent Booksellers Alliance, Allison Best-Teague said that Blue Ridge Books in Waynesville wasn’t damaged.
