Pannell Award Nominees Announced

The Women's National Book Association (WNBA) has announced the names of 25 stores nominated for this year's Lucile Micheels Pannell Awards, which recognize "retail booksellers who excel at creatively bringing books and children together and inspiring children's interest in books and reading."

A Pannell Award will be presented to one general bookstore and one children's bookstore at BookExpo America, to be held May 1-5 at the Jacob Javits Convention Center in New York City.

Fifteen stores were nominated in the children's book category, including two previous Pannell winners:

• Adventures for Kids, Ventura, California (previous winner)
• All For Kids, Seattle, Washington (previous winner)
• Books Illustrated, Melbourne, Australia
• Books of Wonder, New York, New York
• Butterfly Books, DePere, Wisconsin
• Children's Book World, Haverford, Pennsylvania
• Children's Corner Bookshop, Spokane, Washington
• Eight Cousins Children's Books, Falmouth, Massachusetts
• Flying Pig Children's Books, Charlotte, Vermont
• Forever Books, St. Joseph, Michigan
• Hicklebee's, San Jose, California
• Kids Ink, Indianapolis, Indiana
• The Red Balloon, St. Paul, Minnesota
• The Storyteller, Lafayette California
• Vancouver Kidsbooks, Vancouver, B.C., Canada

The winner in each category will receive a check for $1,000 and a piece of original art by a children's book illustrator.
