Pre-Ordering Launches on Kobo eBooks
Customers looking to pre-order upcoming eBook releases can now do so from stores participating in the ABA/Kobo partnership.
A customer who clicks on the buy button for an upcoming eBook on a store site will be directed to a pre-order button on the Kobo site, where they can choose to purchase the book using Quick Buy or the traditional checkout method. The customer’s credit card will not be billed until the pre-ordered book officially goes on sale and is available to the customer. An e-mail announcing the title’s arrival will be sent to the address provided by the customer at the time his or her Kobo account was established.
Downloadable instructions for customers interested in pre-ordering Kobo eBooks are available to booksellers in the Kobo Overview and Customer FAQs section on BookWeb’s Kobo Resources page.
In other Kobo news, the Valentine’s promotion on Kobo Mini eReaders and Snapbacks, which began on January 25, runs through February 14. Kobo will reimburse stores $20 for every Kobo Mini unit sold during the promotional period and $12 per free Snapback given away with the specially priced Mini during the promotion period. Design files for web and in-store promotions are available in the Booksellers DIY.
To make it easier for stores to report their Kobo Mini sales for the purposes of claiming the launch-related incremental bonus and other promos, including the Valentine's Day promotion, ABA has created the Kobo Reporting Tool. Sales data for the Valentine’s promo will be accepted beginning February 14 through March 1.
