Putumayo Artists to Perform at Silent Auction & Reception

Putumayo World Music artists The Sweet Remains will be performing at the ABC Children’s Group Silent Auction and Reception to benefit the newly established ABFFE Fund for Free Speech in Children’s Books during BookExpo America. The event, featuring the auction of one-of-a-kind artwork from children’s illustrators, will be held on Wednesday, May 25, from 5:00 p.m. - 7:30 p.m. in Rooms 1E09/10/11 on the lower concourse of the New York’s Javits Convention Center, directly adjacent to the ABA Lounge. Ticket prices for the Silent Auction and Reception are $69 for bookseller members of the ABC Children’s Group at ABA and $89 for all others. Buy your tickets here.

The Sweet Remains is featured on Acoustic Café, one of Putumayo’s fall CD releases of exceptional acoustic bands and singer-songwriters from the U.S., Canada, the U.K., and Australia.It’s the fifth release in Putumayo’s successful Café series, including French Café, Italian Café, Brazilian Café, and Café Cubano.

An online preview of this year’s Silent Auction artwork is currently underway, and all BEA registrants can preview select pieces on Tuesday, May 24, from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., in the Javits Crystal Palace. Raffle tickets for chances to win a few special pieces of artwork will be sold at Tuesday’s preview and at the Silent Auction reception.

If the Silent Auction and Reception is not sold out prior to BEA, tickets will be sold during the preview and at the entrance to the reception on a first-come, first-served basis. Tickets purchased on site will cost $79 for ABC Group members and $99 for all others. Light refreshments, beer, wine, and non-alcoholic beverages will be served during the event.

Putumayo, which is launching a series of European, African, and Latin coloring books and sticker collections, invites booksellers to stop by Booth #2463 to view its new display options and upcoming CDs and other products. Upcoming releases include Kids World Party, which supports Amnesty International and celebrates the organization’s 50th anniversary, and Celtic Christmas.
