A Scam Warning

A new scam has popped up in the Great Lakes region. An ABA member bookstore reported this week that a staff member had received an e-mail informing him that he had won a $1,000 Visa Gift card from the bookstore.  The e-mail didn’t originate from a store e-mail address, but whoever sent the e-mail said they were doing so on behalf of the bookstore.

The American Booksellers Association reminds store owners and managers to ensure that all staff members, especially seasonal help, are aware of the many types of scams that are out there and know what to do if they suspect one is being perpetrated on the bookstore.
