SEBA Invites Booksellers Nationwide to Idea Ranch
The third annual Bookseller Retreat, organized by the Southeast Booksellers Association (SEBA), will offer a chance for booksellers from across the country to refresh their creative thinking and problem-solving abilities in a relaxed atmosphere, where they can wind down and socialize with authors and their fellow booksellers. From Thursday evening, April 6, through Monday morning, April 11, at Honey Creek in Waverley, Georgia, booksellers attending The Idea Ranch can go kayaking, bicycling, get a massage, and spend time with authors and other booksellers. The retreat, as explained on the SEBA website, "leads to generative thinking and creative problem solving with others that are facing similar challenges" and is open to booksellers from all regions.
"Booksellers from across the country gather to engage in activities that are totally outside of their regular routines, which allows for the brain to become more generative and less cognitive," explained SEBA Executive Director Wanda Jewell. "Booksellers take their meals together to talk and from these conversations, combined with the activities, comes a great deal of creativity and sharing.... Booksellers mistakenly view this as a 'vacation' before they arrive, but once on-site, they understand the true value of the retreat."
Honey Creek is located on more than 100 wooded acres on a deep-water tidal creek on a southeast Georgia marsh. The price of $600 includes everything except transportation to and from Honey Creek. For booksellers willing to share a room, the price drops to $500 per bookseller.
