S&S Offers Assistance in Wake of Sandy

This week, Simon & Schuster announced a Hurricane Sandy relief effort to help affected civilians, retailers, libraries, and schools. S&S President and CEO Carolyn Reidy outlined the company’s efforts, which include an offer of a range of new releases and bestsellers free of charge for damaged stores.

For retail accounts that have been damaged by Hurricane Sandy, S&S is offering free of charge multiple copies of 20 new releases and bestsellers to help them get their businesses back up and running.  Among the titles are Team of Rivals by Doris Kearns Goodwin;  Proof of Heaven by Eben Alexander, M.D.; The Bridge by Karen Kingsbury; The Tucci Cookbook by Stanley Tucci; The End of Illness by David B. Agus; Bruce by Peter Ames Carlin; The Secret Keeper by Kate Morton; The Light Between Oceans by M.L. Stedman; Moustronaut by Mark Kelly and C. F. Payne;  All The World by Liz Garton Scanlon and Marla Frazee; and audios of The Greater Journey by David McCullough and Pimsleur Conversational Spanish.

Through its Education and Library marketing department, S&S is offering to any public or school library damaged by Hurricane Sandy a donation of 500 “best of” titles in order to help in the restoration of their collections. In addition, working with national and local organizations including First Book, K.I.D.S, World Vision, UJA-Federation of New York and the Brooklyn Public Library’s Bookmobile, S&S is donating books for displaced children and adults at shelters in the New York and New Jersey region.
