Use of Online Handbook Continues to Grow -- ABA Encourages Bookseller Feedback to Keep Important Info Resource Up to Date
Booksellers should by now have received a letter from ABA describing the official launch of the ABA Book Buyers Handbook Online, which can be found at http://handbook.bookweb.org/ or via the Book Buyers Handbook icon at BookWeb.org.
The Handbook is already receiving heavy user traffic, as booksellers and other ABA members access the fully searchable database to obtain the most up-to-date information from thousands of companies. Access to the Handbook is open to all ABA members, and all bookstore staff can use the Handbook by employing their current log-in name and password for BookWeb.org.
Since the launch of the Handbook, the ABA Information Department has been making regular editorial changes to constantly update the database. Booksellers are strongly encouraged to alert ABA of any changing terms they learn of. To assist in this, ABA has included a link on the Handbook homepage through which booksellers can send information.
Because booksellers have noted to ABA that they refer to the Handbook for contact information, the association is making available -- free upon request -- a booklet containing key contact information, including the main office address and phone numbers for all companies currently in the Handbook database. Members who still want a print version of the Handbook can order one for $50. [Click here for an online order form.]
For booksellers who can only access the Internet via a toll call, ABA will waive the $50 charge for the Handbook, recognizing that the limitations of telecommunications options should not, in effect, create an additional surcharge to membership. These bookstore members should contact Pete Reynolds at (800) 637-0037, ext. 1292 or peter@bookweb.org.
