The Indie Bestseller Lists are the most current snapshot of what’s selling at independent bookstores nationwide. It’s crucial, however, for as many ABA members as possible to report each week to showcase the strength of the indie channel in the publishing industry and to ensure everyone can see what independent booksellers are recommending — and what their customers are buying.
[1]National hardcover, paperback, and children’s lists are produced in HTML, PDF, and Word formats [1] and distributed weekly to bookstores, publishers, and media outlets around the country. Now, to provide even more options for booksellers’ marketing efforts, beginning this week, national fiction and nonfiction lists featuring hardcover and paperback bestsellers will be created in PDF and Word format.
What are some of the other reasons for reporting to the Indie Bestseller List?
Reporting is easy and confidential.
Nielsen BookScan is a fast and easy way to report bestsellers. BookScan is compatible with the following point-of-sale systems: Booklog, Anthology, WordStock, IBID and IBID/ie, SQ1 and iMerchant, Basil, and Books in Store. (For more information, e-mail Rachel Ehrentreu [2] or call 813-366-2162. )
Don’t have a compatible POS system? You can still report via ABA file upload or manual entry. Visit bookweb.org/indiebound/bestsellers/reporting.html [3] for more information.
How can the Indie Bestseller Lists be used in my store?
Once you’ve reported your bestsellers, use the latest lists to create displays, double-check inventory levels of key titles, and find out what your bookselling colleagues are selling in their stores.
Visit BookWeb.org to download and print the National [4], Regional [5], and Specialty [6] Bestseller Lists.
