Titles to be supported by marketing materials for ABC Group members
The 2013 New Voices Committee kicked off the year by reading more than 70 books for kids and teens by first-time authors. Committee members read, voted on, and selected 10 noteworthy and exciting debuts publishing between January 1 and June 30, 2013, in two categories: Ages 8 – 12 and Teen.
The Summer ’13 New Voices Picks are:
Ages 8 – 12
Teen
ABC Group member stores will receive special marketing materials featuring both the Summer Picks and these 10 New Voices Picks from previous years that are now available in paperback:
Now in Paperback: Ages 8 – 12
Now in Paperback: Teen
Marketing materials — including bookmarks, shelf-talkers, and an easel-back sign — will arrive at ABC Group member stores in the May Children’s White Box mailing. The materials are a great way for independent bookstores to offer fresh choices during the summer reading season. The entire list of Summer Picks is also featured with bookseller quotes on IndieBound.org [1].
The members of the New Voices Committee (listed below) will reconvene in July to select their Fall Picks — the season’s top debuts to be featured in a two-page spread in the ABC Best Books for Children Catalog as well as on additional marketing materials.
Publishers who are both ABA members and ABC Group subscribers are welcome to submit titles by debut authors publishing between July 1 and December 31, 2013, for consideration by the committee. Details, including title, author, ISBN, price, format, and publishing date, should be sent via e-mail to ABC Group Manager Shannon O’Connor [2]. Questions about the program should also be directed to O’Connor.
