Graphic Novel Panel Explores Expanding Market

It had to be a cultural milestone in the mainstream acceptance of graphic novels. The in-store book group at the unquestionably mature Elliott Bay Books in Seattle, Washington, recently chose as its featured discussion title Chris Ware's Guardian Prize-winning graphic novel, Jimmy Corrigan: The Smartest Kid on Earth (Pantheon).

Lambda Literary Foundation Presents 2003 Lammies

The Lambda Literary Foundation has announced the winners of the 15th Annual Lambda Literary Awards, or "Lammies," which honor "the best and the brightest" in lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgendered publishing. The awards were presented at a gala banquet and awards ceremony at the Millennium Biltmore Hotel in Los Angeles on May 29 in conjunction with BookExpo America.

The BlackBoard Books of the Year Presented at BEA

BlackBoard African-American Bestsellers, Inc. has announced its 2003 Books of the Year. The awards, presented at this year's BookExpo America in Los Angeles and hosted by Cee Cee Michaela of the UPN series Girlfriends, recognize outstanding African-American writers of fiction, nonfiction, and children's books.
