Duck’s Cottage Opens Downtown Location
Duck’s Cottage Downtown Books opened its doors this morning, March 15, in Manteo, North Carolina. The store features a wide selection of titles as well as Melissa & Doug toys, greeting cards, journals, fresh brewed coffee from an artisanal roaster, biscotti, and a variety of quality teas.
The new location promises to offer the same great service as the original store and plans to keep customers informed through a specific Duck’s Cottage Downtown Books Facebook page.
Water Street’s Chartrand Elected Selectman
Dan Chartrand, owner of Water Street Bookstore in Exeter, New Hampshire, has won a seat on Exeter’s Board of Selectmen. Though his opponent had selectman experience, “Chartrand was able to leverage his popularity, as his bookstore is basically synonymous with Exeter,” wrote Jason Claffey for Exeter Patch.
Chartrand, who will be sworn in on Monday, said his first goal will be to promote a “civil” process among the Board of Selectmen and its interaction with the public.
The Voracious Reader Turns Five
To mark its fifth anniversary, The Voracious Reader in Larchmont, New York, is holding an all-day in-store celebration on Saturday, March 24. In an email to customers, owner Francine Lucidon composed a poem of thanks, listing the top five reasons why the bookstore loves its customers. The poem concluded:
But the foremost reason why we love you,
Number One, among the others, dear,
is that we know that our love is mutual
as we celebrate this milestone year.
New Tarrytown Store to Offer Rare Books
Joseph Niforos is putting the final touches on Kosmos Book Shop, a store for rare, vintage, and classic books, in Tarrytown, New York. Niforos, who studied art at Pratt Institute in Brooklyn, considers himself to be both fairly well read and traveled, and will be fulfilling his passion by selling books, reported Tarrytown Patch.
“Good books don’t go out of style,” said Niforos. “Browsing a well-curated shop for books is a joy.”
In addition to Kosmos, Believe! Juice and Books, is expected to open shortly in Tarrytown.
