Crazy Wisdom Bookstore Celebrates 30 Years

Last week, Crazy Wisdom Bookstore and Tea Room in Ann Arbor, Michigan, began a series of events in celebration of its 30th anniversary with a spring equinox celebration, facilitated by community ceremonialists and musicians. The store specializes in holistic health, body/mind therapies, psychology, Buddhism, alternative spiritual practices, spiritual development, and consciousness.

Crazy Wisdom was founded by Aura Glaser and is now owned by Ruth Schekter and Bill Zirinsky.

[words] Named Best in New Jersey

[words] in Maplewood, New Jersey, was named Best Indie Bookstore in New Jersey Monthly’s 2012 “Best of NJ – Shopping” list.

The store is commended for holding about 100 author events throughout the year, and allowing customers to purchase books and e-books through its e-commerce website. Last year, [words] was honored with the national Disability Matters Award and was featured in Entrepreneur Magazine for its program to employ individuals with autism.

The Next Chapter Featured

Northville, Michigan’s The Next Chapter Bookstore and Bistro, which will celebrate its second anniversary in May, was featured in Observer & Eccentric for contributing to the town’s status as a destination spot.

The bookstore, which has gained customers since Borders’ closing, has also had success with a frequent buyer program. “The downtown community is really strong for a local bookstore, where people can come in and relax and enjoy community,” said owner Dan Commaianni.
