Quail Ridge Buyers in the Running

Three buyers are in the running to be the new owners Quail Ridge Books & Music in Raleigh, North Carolina, reported WRAL.com.

All three potential buyers are local, said Mark Kaufman of Paz & Associates, who has been assisting owner Nancy Olson with the sale. A decision could be made by early April, Kaufman said.

When Olson announced her plans to sell in November, 35 buyers expressed interest, but many dropped out during the process.

Book Tavern Secures Bigger Space

The Book Tavern in Augusta, Georgia, is moving to a bigger location in April.  Owner David Hutchison announced the news in a newsletter to customers. “I think the most exciting thing is more space! More space for books! More space for lounging chairs and tables! More space for Book Clubs to meet! More space for new ideas!” he said.

The store will continue to provide special ordering services for new books and is also looking at the possibility of a pop-up bookstore while installing shelves and furniture.

The Book Den Celebrates 80 Years

The Santa Barbara Independent noted that “on the heels of giants Borders and Barnes & Noble closing their downtown Santa Barbara bookstores in 2011, Eric Kelley’s The Book Den is going strong, celebrating its 80th year on Anapamu Street, just off State.”

California’s oldest used-book store, which traces its history back to 1902, has suddenly become the largest bookstore downtown and has added new books to the inventory,” Kelley told the paper. It’s now half and half, and also sells online.
