BookSense.com On the Move...

Here's a look at some exciting news about participating BookSense.com member websites:

  • Sales Tax Calculations. Until now, sales tax calculations have been based on the location of the store. Now, booksellers have the option of basing sale tax calculations on the zip code of the customer's ship-to address. To make this change, booksellers can click on "Preferences" on the lower left-hand side of their admin page, and uncheck the box at the bottom of the screen.

  • Sign up for Constant Contact! As reported in BTW, ABA recently announced a new partnership with Constant Contact, a leading company that provides services to manage e-mail marketing campaigns. Through this partnership, ABA member bookstores have access to Constant Contact's powerful suite of Web-based tools and can earn annual rebates for participating.

    With Constant Contact, stores can:
    * Collect site visitor e-mail addresses and interests;
    * Import in-house permission-based e-mail addresses;
    * Create and send great-looking e-mail newsletters and promotions in minutes;
    * Target e-mails to specific audiences;
    * Manage their list and track their results;
    * And much, much more...

    No technical expertise is necessary, and stores that sign up through the ABA reseller program will earn rebates for participating. All ABA bookstore members earn an annual rebate equal to the average of one month's Constant Contact fees. (For example, if over a 12-month period a bookstore pays an average of $30/month to Constant Contact, it will receive a $30 rebate from ABA.) Booksellers participating in the BookSense.com program earn an annual rebate equal to two months' Constant Contact fees!

  • E-mail Sign Up Form. Stores participating in the Constant Contact program can enable the e-mail sign-up form on their consumer website to add customer e-mail addresses directly to their Constant Contact database. To do this, participating bookstores should click on the "Mailing List" link on the top of the admin page, and fill in their Constant Contact login name.

  • BookSense.com at BEA. ABA has created a great program of education sessions and special events at this year's Book Expo America, being held in New York City on June 2 - 5. On the schedule are two BookSense.com programs that all ABA members are welcome to attend:

    * BookSense.com Users Group -- Friday, June 3, 10:00 a.m. - 11:00 a.m., Room 1C 02. This is BookSense.com participants' chance to let ABA staff know what they think about the product, and to see what's planned for the future. Non-participants are welcome to attend.

    * BookSense.com/American Heritage Spelling Bee -- Saturday, June 4, 5:30 p.m. - 6:30 p.m., Room 1B 02. ABA members should watch their e-mail and BTW for information on this fun-filled way to relax at the end of a long day on the trade show floor.

    * Booksellers with questions about BookSense.com or Constant Contact are encouraged to make an appointment to sit down with a member of BookSense.com's customer service team at BEA. They will review a store's website, demonstrate new BookSense.com features, and give a guided tour of Constant Contact. To make an appointment, send a note to staff@booksense.com.

Booksellers with questions about customer service, new features, or anything else, may e-mail BookSense.com Director Len Vlahos at len@booksense.com, or the BookSense.com staff at staff@booksense.com.
