Hotel ABA Reservation Deadline April 1

This year’s BookExpo America hotel exclusively for ABA member booksellers — the Grand Hyatt New York — offers single and double rooms at the special nightly rate of $255, plus tax (currently 14.75 percent) and a $3.50 per night occupancy fee. To take advantage of the special rate, booksellers must make their reservations before the ABA room block fills up or by April 1, whichever comes first.

The rate is available on accommodations from Monday, May 27, through Sunday, June 2. Two evening parties are already scheduled at the hotel — on Tuesday and Wednesday, May 28 and 29 — and booksellers should watch for further announcements in the coming weeks. The Grand Hyatt New York is located at 42nd Street and Grand Central Terminal in Manhattan.

Every store in good standing that books a room (or rooms) at Hotel ABA before the April 1 deadline will be automatically entered into a drawing for one of the following prizes, courtesy of BEA:

  • 1 grand prize of four free hotel nights (room and tax)
  • 5 second place prizes of three free hotel nights (room and tax)
  • 15 third place prizes of two free hotel nights (room and tax)
  • 35 fourth place prizes of one free hotel nights (room and tax)

Only one winner per bookstore member is allowed.

Booksellers with questions about Hotel ABA should contact their Member Relationship Manager: Kaitlin Pitcher (NAIBA, NCIBA, NEIBA, SCIBA regions) at (800) 637-0037, ext. 7566 or kaitlin@bookweb.org; or Nathan Halter (GLIBA, MIBA, MPIBA, PNBA, SIBA regions) at (800) 637-0037, ext. 7514 or nathan@bookweb.org.

For those looking for a cheaper alternative to Hotel ABA and other NYC hotels, this week BEA opened reservations for a limited number of dorm rooms at Barnard College at a special rate of a $115 per night. (Learn more.)

As in previous years, ABA member booksellers are eligible to receive complimentary badges for entrance to the BEA trade show. Registration is via the BEA trade show site.

The Remainders and Gift pavilions will open on Wednesday.  The main exhibit area will be open from Thursday, May 30, through Saturday, June 1.
