Hotel ABA Returns for BEA 2013

The American Booksellers Association announced today that Hotel ABA will be back for BookExpo America 2013.  This year’s hotel — offering a special rate exclusively for ABA member booksellers who are registered for BEA — is the Grand Hyatt New York, located at 42nd Street and Grand Central Terminal in Manhattan.

Single and double rooms at the Grand Hyatt New York are available at the special nightly rate of $255, plus tax (currently 14.75 percent) and a $3.50 per night occupancy fee.  The rate is available until April 1, 2013, or until the block is full, for reservations from Monday, May 27, through Sunday, June 2.

Every store in good standing that books a room (or rooms) at Hotel ABA will be eligible to win one of 56 prizes provided by BEA to help reduce ABA members’ expenses to attend the show in NYC, where, it recognizes, hotel rates are high.

Booksellers who make their reservations before April 1, 2013 will be automatically entered into a drawing for one of the following prizes:

  • 1 grand prize of four free hotel nights (room and tax)
  • 5 second place prizes of three free hotel nights (room and tax)
  • 15 third place prizes of two free hotel nights (room and tax)
  • 35 fourth place prizes of one free hotel nights (room and tax)

Only one winner per bookstore member is allowed.

Access the Hotel ABA reservations page here. Booksellers with questions should contact their ABA Member Relationship Manager:

  • Kaitlin Pitcher (NAIBA, NCIBA, NEIBA, SCIBA regions) at (800) 637-0037, ext. 7566 or kaitlin@bookweb.org

  •  Nathan Halter (GLIBA, MIBA, MPIBA, PNBA, SIBA regions) at (800) 637-0037, ext. 7514 or nathan@bookweb.org.

Details about special events at the hotel will be provided in upcoming editions of BTW, but booksellers should save the date for a Welcome to New York party at the hotel on Tuesday, May 28, and a second nighttime party on Wednesday, the 29th.

As has been the case for the past few years, ABA member booksellers are eligible to receive complimentary badges for entrance to the trade show. To receive their free badges, ABA members should register via the BEA trade show site.

BEA Conference Day will take place on Wednesday, May 29, and the show floor will be open Thursday, May 30, through Saturday, June 1. The Remainders & Gift Pavilions will be open on May 29.

BEA will provide shuttle buses from the Grand Hyatt New York to the Javits Convention Center and back.

Register for BEA. Then make a reservation at Hotel ABA.
