Make Your Place in History...

Independent booksellers in the Book Sense program still have time to nominate titles for the upcoming Book Sense History Top Ten, which has a deadline of March 31.

Once again, ABA is collaborating with The History Channel (THC), and this list will feature titles related to the American Revolution. In the words of Founding Father Benjamin Franklin, "Have you something to do tomorrow; do it today."

Titles nominated for the History Top Ten can be fiction or nonfiction, frontlist or backlist, for adults or children.

A new 13-part series on the American Revolution will air on the History Channel at 10:00 p.m. ET/PT beginning on June 4. The series, entitled The Revolution, tells the story of both the leaders of the revolution and the unsung heroes, including spies, slaves, free Africans, Indian sympathizers, and emancipated women. The History Channel, which reaches more than 89 million Nielsen subscribers, has earned six News and Documentary Emmy Awards and has received the prestigious Governor's Award from the Academy of Television Arts & Sciences for the network's Save Our History campaign dedicated to historic preservation and history education.

Looking ahead, there are three upcoming deadlines for April:

  • April 7 -- June Picks List
  • April 14 -- Audiobook Top Ten List
  • April 21 -- Summer Paperback List

Nominations can be sent to dan@booksense.com or they can be submitted through an online form.
