Nominations Sought for D-Day (WWII) Top Ten

June 6, 2004, will mark the 60th anniversary of D-Day, the allied assault on Normandy that marked a pivotal moment in World War II. This June, The History Channel will air a week of specially themed programming focusing on D-Day and the war in Europe.

In conjunction with this programming, Book Sense is announcing a D-Day (and WWII specific) History Top Ten list. This will be the third time Book Sense has compiled a list in association with The History Channel, and it follows the Autumn 2003 Top Ten JFK Picks, which debuted last November.

In order to compile a strong list, booksellers are encouraged to e-mail nominations for the Book Sense D-Day (WWII) Top Ten. These titles can be either frontlist or backlist titles. Nominations should be sent to Book Sense 76 Editor-in-Chief Dan Cullen at dan@booksense.com, with the word "D-Day" in the subject line of the e-mail. Nominations may also be submitted through the Book Sense 76 nomination form at www.bookweb.org/read/6305.

The deadline for nominations is April 2.

The ongoing initiatives with The History Channel have proved to be significant opportunities for independent booksellers nationwide, and the D-Day list should be a potent marketing tool for booksellers during what will be a period of keen consumer interest for titles related to D-Day and World War II.
