Winter Institute Host Hotel Sold Out

Waiting lists form for event registration & hotel reservations

Bookseller registration for the American Booksellers Association’s Eighth Annual Winter Institute reached capacity last week, and an event waiting list began forming. Now, reservations at the host hotel, Missouri’s Westin Kansas City at Crown Center, are also sold out.

Booksellers and publisher registrants who still need hotel reservations should fill out the Hotel Waiting List Form on the Winter Institute website. There is no guarantee, however, that a room will become available at the Westin at the ABA group rate of $119 per night or a higher rate, and registrants should plan accordingly. After January 29, there is no possibility of rooms opening at the ABA rate at the Westin.

Booksellers who have not yet registered for Wi8 can add their names to the Winter Institute 8 Waiting List, also via Winter Institute website.

People on the waiting lists will be contacted on a first-come, first-served basis when cancellations are received.

Registered booksellers who are no longer planning to attend Wi8 and anyone with hotel reservations that are no longer needed are asked to contact ABA as soon as possible so that those who are waiting can fill their places.

Wi8, sponsored by the Ingram Content Group, will be held from Saturday, February 23, through Monday, February 25, 2013, at the Westin Kansas City at Crown Center. An opening reception, sponsored by Andrews McMeel Publishing, will kick off the event, on Friday evening, February 22, at Kansas City’s Union Station.

A special feature of the 2013 education program is a trip for booksellers to the National Association of College Stores’ (NACS) CAMEX trade show. As part of the ABA/NACS cooperation, booksellers who take the field trip during Wi8, or visit CAMEX on their own following the institute, will receive a $100 rebate for placing an order of any size from a vendor exhibiting at the show.
