Books & Books Observes Genocide Prevention MonthBooks & Books in Coral Gables, Florida, is observing Genocide Prevention Month with a sneak preview of The Last Survivor, a documentary to be released this fall that follows the stories of four genocide survivors who have become anti-genocide advocates. The IndieBound movement, launched by the American Booksellers Association at last year's BookExpo America, has been honored as one of the top rebrands of the year by the 2009 ReBrand 100 Global Awards.

Sam Weller's to Leave Main Street LocationOn March 12, Catherine and Tony Weller announced that Salt Lake City's Sam Weller's Books is planning to leave its 40,000-square-foot location at 254 South Main Street, in the David Keith Building, where it has operated since 1961.

Carmichael's Wins PW's Bookseller of the Year

Carmichael's Bookstore in Louisville, Kentucky, has been named the recipient of this year's Publishers Weekly Bookseller of the Year Award. Co-owners Carol Besse and Michael Boggs were stunned, said Besse. "We're really gratified to have been nominated, and we just didn't have any expectation at all that we would win." PW cited the bookstore's close relationship with its customers, as well as its tripling profits over the past decade.
