The Women’s National Book Association is seeking nominations of bookstores in the U.S. that excel at inspiring kids’ interest in reading, as well as creatively bringing books and young people together.

The New York Library Association has presented its SirsiDynix Intellectual Freedom Award for 2011 to the American Booksellers Foundation for Free Expression.

The winners of the 2011 National Book Awards were announced tonight, November 16, at the National Book Foundation’s 62nd Awards Ceremony and Benefit Dinner at Cipriani Wall Street in New York City.

On Wednesday, the finalists for the 2011 National Book Awards were announced in Portland, Oregon, as part of Oregon Public Broadcasting’s Think Out Loud morning radio program. This year’s list includes six titles chosen earlier this year by independent booksellers as Indie Next List Great Reads.
