ABA will hold its 2012 Day of Education on Monday, June 4, during BEA at New York’s Javits Convention Center. The free program, sponsored by the Ingram Content Group, is targeted at ABA bookstore and provisional members but is open to all trade show attendees.

Among the highlights of ABA’ s June 6 ABC Children’s Institute are two events offering booksellers the opportunity to meet and discuss new projects with established and upcoming authors.

Among the authors scheduled to appear at this year’s BEA breakfasts are Junot Diaz, John Green, and Michael Chabon. Masters of ceremonies include Stephen Colbert, Chris Coffer, and Kirstie Alley. A newly added, free lunchtime event will feature musician and upcoming author Neil Young.

Booksellers at ABA member stores have until midnight on March 31 to cast their ballots for the Indies Choice and the E.B. White Read-Aloud awards. The winners will be honored at ABA’s Celebration of Bookselling Author Awards Luncheon on June 5  at BEA.

ABA’s Celebration of Bookselling Author Awards Luncheon will be held on Tuesday, June 5, at BEA. Reservations will be accepted from two booksellers at each ABA member store on a first-come, first-served basis.

The Children’s Institute combines ABA’s in-depth education sessions and roundtable discussions, which are free and open to all ABA member booksellers, with a specially priced package of popular author events.

Several indie booksellers who have made Pinterest part of their social media marketing efforts have found it easy and fun to use and better than Twitter for connecting with customers.

ABA bookstore members who have not attended BookExpo America in the past three years recently received an e-mail from BEA with information about an opportunity to secure one free hotel night for their stay in NYC if they are attending the 2012 trade show.
