Margaret Atwood discusses the book industry in flux and what happens when the “oldest human technology” is filtered through the new. BEA attendees will have the opportunity to learn more of Atwood’s thoughts on changes in the book industry at an ABA Day of Education Plenary session, from 3:00 p.m. - 4:00 p.m. on Monday, May 23.

Prospective booksellers are invited to attend a free, full-day “Introduction to Retail Bookselling” Seminar, sponsored by the ABA, on Sunday, May 22, at the Holiday Inn at 57th Street, in New York City.

Christopher J. Zane, a nationally noted entrepreneur and speaker, will be the opening plenary speaker at ABA’s Day of Education, on Monday, May 23, at BEA. The event is open to all BEA badged attendees.

Today the American Booksellers Association provides a first look at programming for its ninth annual Day of Education, to be held on Monday, May 23, at BookExpo America. The Day of Education at BEA is sponsored by the Ingram Content Group.

“Opening a Bookstore: The Business Essentials,” a workshop retreat for anyone thinking about opening or buying a bookstore, will be offered by Paz & Associates from March 21 – 25 on Amelia Island (near Jacksonville, Florida).

Registration is now open for ABA's Sixth Annual Winter Institute, to be held from Wednesday, January 19, through Friday, January 21, 2011, at the Crystal Gateway Marriott in Arlington, Virginia, just outside of Washington, D.C. This educational event – sponsored by Ingram – is a member benefit exclusively for ABA bookstore and provisional members.
