ABA Forum in Cincinnati on Tuesday

ABA will be holding a Booksellers Forum in conjunction with the Great Lakes Booksellers Association (GLBA), on Tuesday, March 30, at Emmis Books in Cincinnati, Ohio.

ABA Offices Will Be Site of Booksellers Forum in April

The American Booksellers Association is extending an invitation to booksellers in the New Atlantic Independent Booksellers Association (NAIBA) region, as well as to booksellers in Connecticut, for a Booksellers Forum to be held at ABA's offices in Tarrytown, New York, on Wednesday, April 14. The gathering, held in conjunction with NAIBA, will be hosted by ABA Board member John Bennett of Wyckoff, New Jersey's Bennett Books, ABA's CEO Avin Mark Domnitz and COO Oren Teicher, as well as other association staff.

Mid-South Booksellers Gather at ABA Booksellers Forum

The American Booksellers Association continued its 2004 Booksellers Forum tour on Tuesday, March 16, with a program in conjunction with the Mid-South Independent Booksellers Association (MSIBA), at Brystone Children's Books in Fort Worth, Texas. The forum, conducted by ABA CEO Avin Mark Domnitz and COO Oren Teicher, gave booksellers the chance to ask questions and to discuss key issues, including the USA Patriot Act, Book Sense Gift Cards, the 2004 ABACUS study, and more.

Forum at Brookline 'Enjoyable and Productive'

On Wednesday, March 10, approximately 40 booksellers attended an ABA Booksellers Forum, held in conjunction with the New England Booksellers Association (NEBA) at the Massachusetts' Brookline Booksmith. ABA CEO Avin Mark Domnitz and COO Oren Teicher conducted the forum, and among the key topics were the Book Sense Gift Card program, changes to the Book Sense 76, store security, and efforts to amend Section 215 of the USA Patriot Act.

ABA to Hold Second Forum in Great Lakes Region

ABA CEO Avin Mark Domnitz, COO Oren Teicher, and ABA Board member Karl Pohrt of Shaman Drum in Ann Arbor, Michigan, will be conducting an ABA Booksellers Forum, in conjunction with the Great Lakes Booksellers Association (GLBA) on Tuesday, March 30, at Emmis Books in Cincinnati, Ohio. The second forum in the Great Lakes region this season (the first was on January 15 in Chicago) offers booksellers the opportunity to ask questions, express opinions, and hear about ABA's activities and plans for the future.

ABA Invites Booksellers to Forums in Seattle and Denver

Booksellers in the Pacific Northwest and Mountains & Plains regions were recently invited to attend ABA Booksellers Forums to be held in Seattle and Denver, respectively. The Seattle forum will be held on Thursday, March 18, in conjunction with the Pacific Northwest Booksellers Association (PNBA) Spring Show, which runs from March 18 - 20, at the Hilton Hotel/Seattle Airport.

Minnesota Forum Convenes on Saturday, Massachusetts on Wednesday

ABA hopes to see booksellers in the upper Midwest and New England regions at Booksellers Forums to be held on Saturday, March 6, at the Comfort Inn Airport in Bloomington, Minnesota, and on Wednesday, March 10, at Brookline Booksmith in Brookline, Massachusetts, respectively.

Reader Privacy and Gift Cards Focus of ABA/SCBA Forums

On Friday, February 20, and Saturday, February 21, ABA Booksellers Forums were held in conjunction with the Southern California Booksellers Association (SCBA) in Pasadena and San Diego, respectively. At both forums, ABA COO Oren Teicher provided attendees with updates on a number of ABA programs and initiatives, including the Book Sense Gift Card Program, the Campaign for Reader Privacy (www.readerprivacy.com/), and plans to celebrate the fifth birthday of Book Sense. ABA Invites Booksellers to Come Together in Massachusetts and Texas

As part of its continuing series of Booksellers Forums, ABA recently sent invitations to booksellers in the New England and Mid-South regions asking them come together to share in discussions of matters of concern to all booksellers and to get an update on ABA programs and services. Among the topics open for discussion are sales tax initiatives, efforts to amend the USA Patriot Act, net-pricing proposals, programming for BookExpo America, Book Sense and plans for its fifth birthday celebration, the 2004 ABACUS study, and more.

Book Sense and Free Expression Initiatives Take Center Stage at D.C. Forum

On Wednesday, February 25, in conjunction with the New Atlantic Independent Booksellers Association (NAIBA), ABA held a Bookseller Forum in the The Lansburgh Building, next door to Olsson's Books & Records in downtown Washington, D.C. Among the key topics of the forum were the Book Sense Gift Card Program, the Book Sense 76, and the Campaign for Reader Privacy (CRP). The forum was led by ABA CEO Avin Mark Domnitz and COO Oren Teicher, with ABA Vice President Mitchell Kaplan of Books & Books in Coral Gables and Miami Beach.
