ABA to Visit with Booksellers in the Great Lakes & New England Areas

On February 7, in conjunction with the Great Lakes Bookseller Association, the American Booksellers Association will be conducting the first of two booksellers forums scheduled for the Great Lakes area in the upcoming months. The forum will provide ABA member booksellers an opportunity to meet and talk with ABA CEO Avin Mark Domnitz and Len Vlahos, director of BookSense.com. It will be held from 4:00 p.m. - 6:00 p.m. in the Century Ballroom of Weber's Inn, 3050 Jackson Road, Ann Arbor, Michigan [(734) 769-2500].

Booksellers Busy in Atlanta

This week is a busy one for booksellers in Atlanta, as ABA, the American Booksellers Foundation for Free Expression (ABFFE), and the regional bookselling associations come together for a number of meetings. The ABA Booksellers Advisory Council met on Monday and Tuesday. On Wednesday, the Strategic Planning Committee and the Governance Review Committee are scheduled to meet, and that evening a Booksellers Forum is scheduled from 6:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m. at the DoubleTree Hotel.

2002 ABA Booksellers Forums

ABA Booksellers Forums provide members with an opportunity to meet with representatives of the ABA staff and Board to discuss issues relating to ABA programs, bookselling, and the state of the industry. Forums get under way in January, and are scheduled through February, March, and April. Stay tuned to BTW for further details of upcoming forums. The first ABA member forum will be held on Wednesday, January 16, at the DoubleTree Hotel Atlanta/Buckhead in Atlanta, Georgia. The forum will take place from 6:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m.

ABA is hosting its first Booksellers Forum of 2002, in Atlanta. The forum, held in conjunction with the Southeast Booksellers Association (SEBA), will provide ABA member booksellers with an opportunity to meet and talk with ABA Board members and senior staff. Participants will have the chance to express their opinions--as well as to provide input as the association develops new priorities and directions.
