All Day of Education Materials Now on BookWeb

Materials binder replaced by downloadable handouts

The American Booksellers Association has produced all session handouts for its Day of Education at BookExpo America in digital form and has made them available to member booksellers via BookWeb.org. ABA made the change from producing a handouts binder for booksellers at the show to providing digital files accessible to any member store prior to BEA in response to bookseller feedback at the Winter Institute, where ways to foster greener business practices were a key focus.

All ABA member booksellers can now view and download handouts for each of this year's Day of Education sessions via the program schedule at www.bookweb.org/events/bea/program. Materials for the remaining four sessions were added this week:

By foregoing production of the handouts binder, ABA is reducing the carbon footprint of its participation in BEA not only in terms of paper and materials, but also in regard to energy consumption.

An added benefit is that by reviewing the material in advance of BEA members will be able to make more informed decisions about what sessions to attend on site.

ABA is encouraging booksellers to print out only what they need and to recycle and reuse last year's Winter Institute or BEA binder for the Day of Education.

And, while there will be goodies and promotional handouts available at the Hotel ABA Welcome Desk (located on the 2nd Floor/Mezzanine Level of the Renaissance Hollywood), the association is leaving it to members to take only the materials they want and to recycle a bag from home in which to carry them.
