Kansas City Fire Miles Away From Wi8 Site

Following widespread media coverage of the natural gas blast and four-alarm fire that rocked part of Kansas City on February 19, the American Booksellers Association noted today that the tragic event had not affected the association’s activities or staff setting up for the upcoming Winter Institute at the Westin Kansas City at Crown Center.

“While tragic, the fire at JJ’s restaurant was several miles away from the Wi8 hotel, and ABA staff is completely safe and sound,” said ABA Content Officer Dan Cullen. “Many thanks to all who have expressed concern, and we look forward to seeing you in Kansas City.”

Missouri Gas Energy said in a statement that first indications showed that a contractor doing work in the area had struck a natural gas line, but that the investigation was ongoing, reported Reuters.

Ingram Launches On-Demand Journals Program

On Tuesday, February 19, Ingram Content Group announced plans for the March launch of a comprehensive, on-demand print and fulfillment journals program.

“Using an on-demand business model for journals will help publishers become more efficient in the distribution and production of journal content,” said Ingram Chief Content Officer Phil Ollila.

Ingram’s solution provides tools that manage print journal fulfillment, from file set-up, to print-on-demand, to delivery. From a website, publishers can upload and manage content and subscription lists, designate fulfillment requirements, place print orders for direct delivery to their subscribers, as well as order one-off issues for claims fulfillment.
