Magers & Quinn to Close World Book Night With Author Event
To bring World Book Night to a close on Monday, April 23, Magers & Quinn Booksellers in Minneapolis, Minnesota, is holding an in-store celebration, open to the community. The event, starting at 7:30 p.m., includes readings by authors Kate DiCamillo and Leif Enger. Acting as a master of ceremonies will be Laurie Hertzel, memoirist and books editor of the Star Tribune.
“We’re encouraging everyone to come to the store on the night of the 23rd so we can celebrate them,” said Ethan Rutherford, the events coordinator at Magers & Quinn. “After all, they’re the heroes of World Book Night.”
The night will be filled with prizes, giveaways, refreshments, and big discounts on many classic titles, “so that even if a visitor to the store is not officially participating in WBN, he/she can still leave with some quality literature for a song — all in the spirit of World Book Night,” said Rutherford.
Magers & Quinn received boxes for 18 official givers, and Rutherford is expecting a crowd of more than 100 people to attend the closing event.
“We’re excited to have Kate and Leif in the store talking about their selections, and we’re hoping that our bookish friends in the city decide to come on down to celebrate this great idea, and help launch the program in style.”
