Reservations Open for Cheaper BEA Rooming Option

This week, BookExpo America opened reservations for a limited number of rooms at Barnard College available exclusively for trade show attendees at a special rate of a $115 per night. The accommodations are ideal for “attendees looking for convenience and a great value,” BEA said.

The Barnard dorm rooms will feature:

  • Linens (flat and fitted sheets, a blanket, two pillows, a washcloth and two towels
  • Air conditioning
  • A shared (community) bathroom
  • Two common areas to each floor
  • 24/7 access with an attendant always on duty

The dorm is on the corner of 116th and Broadway, just steps from the #1 train. From there, it is a 16-minute ride to 34th Street and 7th Avenue, which is a five-block walk to the Javits Convention Center.  The neighborhood is adjacent to the Columbia University campus and close to the two branches of Book Culture.

A limited number of rooms are available, so those who are interested should book as soon as possible.

There is also still room at this year’s BEA hotel exclusively for ABA member booksellers — the Grand Hyatt New York. Single and double rooms are available at the special nightly rate of $255, plus tax (currently 14.75 percent) and a $3.50 per night occupancy fee. Every ABA member store in good standing that books a room (or rooms) at Hotel ABA will be eligible to win free hotel nights, courtesy of BEA. (Learn more.)

To take advantage of the special Hotel ABA rate, booksellers must make their reservations before the  room block fills up or by April 1, whichever comes first. The Grand Hyatt New York is located at 42nd Street and Grand Central Terminal in Manhattan.

ABA member booksellers are eligible to receive complimentary badges for entrance to the BEA trade show. Registration is via the BEA trade show site.

“Bookselling Today: ABA Education” begins on Wednesday morning, May 29, at the Javits Convention Center. The Remainders and Gift pavilions will also open on Wednesday.  The main exhibit area will be open from Thursday, May 30, through Saturday, June 1.
